ReplyDeleteThe most effective way for me to learn and remember the material is to watch the videos a few times each and review old homeworks. Using a computer os better because I can see everything more clearly. The worst enviornment to study in is a loud and distracting one. The best is in a quiet place like a library. To memorize I just repeat the words over and over until tey are engrained in my memory.
Cristina
DeleteThe previous homeworks save me as I move forward with lessons. I always need to look back.
Daniela I agree that watching the videos a couple time does help and as well as going over pervious homeworks does help.
DeleteDaniela, you're so right that the previous compiti are a valuable tool when learning. I also often refer back to refresh myself or see what I need to improve. - Giacinta

DeleteYou are 99% exactly the same as me. But when you memorize something, try to write it down on the paper as much as you can, it is gonna work out.
Olga
DeleteReviewing old homework assignments is definitely a great way to refresh your memory and always go back to for reference! I usually have a few previous assignments open for every new compito to use as reference.

ReplyDeleteI really like to study in my bedroom, away from the distractions of my house. I can also practice out loud without disturbing anyone. I like to memorize with flash cards or a friend quizzing me. I prefer to use my computer to study. It makes it easier to toggle between the compiti, my documents and the dictionary.

DeleteI also use the computer. I wish my screen was even bigger to have all the windows open and spread out at once.
Cristina
ReplyDeleteI don't have many tricks so far, as I'm still trying to grab the information. But it is very helpful to refer to previous lessons and videos. I know the information is always provided to us somehow, and if I am patient to find and answer it's inevitably always there. I also have found that a quiet environment is crucial to complete the homework, otherwise noise is distracting. I haven't tried to complete the homework on my phone, but I've found a good system on the computer. I write out all the tasks and inputs of the tasks before doing them, so I make sure I didn't skip any part as I go along.

ReplyDeleteThe best way for me to study is making flash cards with the words and breaking it down to try to pronounce them the best way possible, as well as looking back on pervious assignments to see where I need to improve in. For me using my computer is more of an effective way because I am able to split my screen so I know what I have to do for each assignment. The worst environment to study would be in a noise place and the best would be in a nice quiet place where you can focus on your work and not be distracted. To memorize the words I make flash cards and then after I review them a few times I would try to do it from the top of my head.
Using flashcards seems helpful! Also Quizlet which is basically online flashcards allows for games to match cards from each language and for me is always more effective than paper flashcards. - Isabella
DeleteThis sounds very useful, I will attempt this as well.

ReplyDeleteI recommend watching videos more than once, and even on double speed to make yourself pronounce words faster than just sounding them out so that you're forced to know the words. Also, using external learning sources like Duolingo and listening to Italian music helps to ingrain the sounds of the language in my head. I'm sure using a computer is better than using a phone, especially because auto-correct on Google Docs does what it wants on the phone whereas you have to manually change things on the computer. The worst environment to study for me is one where everyone around me is speaking English, so if I'm home I have to be in a room with music of my choice to help me focus, which is the best environment for me to study and learn in. To memorize things, I repeat them out loud multiple times after listening to the correct pronunciation.

ReplyDeleteRepetition, repetition, repetition. The homework feels like it takes a long time, because it does, but that doesn't take into consideration that the time taken for our assignments is also class time. With that in mind, it really isn't that big of a deal to spend as much time as I need to make sure I understand what the professor is saying.

Hello guys,
First of all, I recommend you guys to do our assignment. And try to learn something those assignments.
And in order to remember the material, try to physically write it down on the papaer. I know this is kind of old-fashioned but it works for me.
Using a computer is so much better than using a phone because there's not much i can do by using a phone. I usually spend over 2 hours for each assignment, and I cannot concentrate on small display for 2 hours.
For me, I think that students study best in a quiet environment. And also you have to study by yourself. When you do your assignment, just focus on that. We don't need a multi-tasking during when we do homework.
Like I said before, in order to memorize something, I write it down as much as I can.

ReplyDeleteI think the assignments are definitely the best way to learn, also writing down basic rules, that helps a lot. Even when we made mistakes, we had the opportunities to check the errors, which is really helpful. It usually take me like 4h to complete an assigments, I think it could be less but it's hard for me to just focus in the assignment for a long period of time. Lack of attention is definitely my problem and I will be working on it to improve my grades and learn more.
the best way to study is to repeatedly go over the exercises and repeat all the new words with the English translation until you memorize it.
ReplyDeleteI find it most beneficial to complete the exercises several times. Once before while learning the material and once after, when I believe I have mastered it. This helps me make sure that I know the material very well.
ReplyDeleteEveryone is different in the way they learn. For me, the most evective way of studying to ensure I learn and remember the material is by first reading all material 2-3 times then revisiting it a day or two later. I then re read and write down whatever I need to say for the compito video and speak outloud until I feel I absorbed the material. Ive found this method to work for me, hopefully it can help you too. -Demetrio

ReplyDeleteI like to make index cards of the vocabulary to memorize their meanings. I also make index cards for the conjugations or essere and avere. Also having a laptop is a lot easier than trying to do homework on your phone. Since the screen is bigger, you can see more and really absorb the material.
I have never had success using flash cards to learn languages but i believe that that is my personal experience only. I know many people find them very useful to practice and learn a language. The computer is a must for me as well to look at old assignments and information while i work on the current assignments.

ReplyDeleteMy most effective way of studying is repetition and writing down. I am a visual learner so I make flash cards, write the verbs/nouns/pronouns, etc. on them and constantly review them. I also verbally repeat things. I have to physically say or write it down for me to effectively learn it.
Language is not like other subjects. For me personally, I require a lot of work. I think it is best to not cram. So I like to start my review in the beginning of the week and then do a little bit at a time.
ReplyDeleteI usually repeat the words multiple times out loud until I remember how to pronounce them correctly.
ReplyDeleteAlso writing them multiple times in a piece of paper is also very helpful.
The most effective way that works with me personally , is breaking down the words and repeating them until they are stuck in my head. I also use the dictionary to translate each and every word I don't understand, and write them all down with the english translation.
ReplyDeleteSamantha
ReplyDeleteWorking with a physical copy is the most affective way for me to study. I usually just print out materials and high light what is important to catch my eye. Repetition is also something that is very helpful to me in order to understand what I am studying. The best place to study at home when I am by myself because then there is not distractions just like being in the library. At the end, how much work you put in to study will affect how good or bad you'll do on a test.

ReplyDeleteI always study using my computer at home. I find a quiet spot where I can listen closely to the videos and audio files and practice reciting myself.

ReplyDeleteThe best way for me to learn is to have full focus, so I ask my family to stay on the other side of the apartment, so that I do not get distracted by any talking, television, music, or cell-phones. Using a computer is much better because it allows you to have a full screen which helps you easily access all your resources, unlike a cell-phone whose screen is significantly smaller. A loud environment is the worst environment to study in. In order to memorize words, phrases, conjugations I re-watch and repeat all the examples given in our homework assignments.

ReplyDeleteThe best way to learn Italian is to sit and focus on it without distraction as many of my classmates have mentioned. The verb conjugation charts have been really helpful to me since I am a visual learner. I recommend that everyone make a separate document with each chart as we learn them in the youtube videos. It is really helpful in the assignments as well as the overall understanding of the language.
